my baby boy

Earlier today, I got to spend some one on one time with my baby boy. I think he enjoyed it as much as I did. We met Daddy for breakfast, went to the park, ran a couple of errands, and came home a played a bit before picking up L from preschool. Oh, one of the errands we went on was going through the car wash. Baby P does NOT like the car wash and will scream...unless I reach back and hold his hand. Then, all is good. How sweet is that?

How is he 2 already?! Baby P turned 2 in September (which I still want to and will do a post about). Why is it that time goes by faster the older and busier you are?

He is just something else! What is a word or two to describe that little boy? Passionate, stubborn...When he's happy, he's oh so happy. But when he's upset, watch out! I describe him as wanting things his way, yesterday. And I don't know if it's having 2 older brothers, but man he is clever and will fight to get his way! That personality may get him in trouble some now, but will take him far in life.

Here are some things I want to remember Baby P doing at this age:

-puts his hands together and really close to his face when we pray
-in a stinkin' cute way, says "okay!" with kind of a southern twang
-sometimes when I explain something to him, he says "oh"...like he totally   gets it
-on Halloween, he would say "tik tee" (trick or treat) and "ly on" (light on) to help identify which houses to go up to
-he is very sweet with his baby cousin E
-does this thing were he slides down the stairs on his belly super fast
-loves books and will sit and flip through them
-enjoys coloring...all over himself, as well as on paper
-likes Sesame Street a lot
-"mis mou" = mickey mouse
-gives sweet kisses (when he wants)
-enjoys jumping in the trampoline with his brothers
-LOVES to swing "up high", I mean we're talking as high as the swing will take him!
-makes the cutest truck sounds
-could eat just "nas" (snacks all day), and will sometimes get mad if I say we're going to eat a meal, i.e. "lunch"...so I just call it a snack
-When he wanted to wander about at the restaurant at breakfast this morning, he was easily distracted when we told him there were bunny rabbits and dogs outside (we were sitting near a window).

I'm sure there is more about this Baby Boy I could add and just don't remember right now.

Man, I love him so...the one that made me a mom to 3 boys...sweet, precious boys.

swim lessons

This summer, our 2 older boys enjoyed taking swim lessons. A friend of mine was kind enough to allow us to join her and her 2 boys at their neighborhood pool for the lessons. Their teacher was super sweet and they did great with her! C and L did well and became a lot more comfortable with being in the water and going under water. Our C man even learned to independently swim a few feet!

more summer fun...

...and few words.

The boys and I joined our friends for peach picking at this orchard in Fredericksburg.

We also visited our local museum to see a really cool dinosaur exhibit.

So, we asked the kiddos what a dinosaur sounds like. This next two pictures crack me up! They are so cute!

The dinosaur exhibit turned out to be a lot of fun. The dinosaurs moved and made noise so I wasn't sure if the boys would be a little scared. C was excited from the start and loved it. When we first got there, L wasn't too sure about it and said he wanted to leave. He ended up loving it also! And P, well he would scream at me to get him as close as we could to the dinosaurs. This lady walked by and said to me, "Awww, he (referring to P) is probably scared." I said, "Nope! He is insisting on getting really close the them!"

It's fun going back and remembering what a nice summer we had. I'm so glad, especially since C is in kinder now.

4th of July

So I'm a bit behind with my blogging. Nonetheless, I'm determined to catch up with summer blogging...even though it's November. I'd love to turn this blog into a book and want to have our summer fun be a part of it!

For 4th of July my brother and his lovely wife were kind enough to invite family over to their house...even though they had just had their baby girl days before...like 5 days before. Anyhoo, they cooked and everything for us. I brought over dessert.

4th of July
Aaack! We need a new table or to sand and stain this one.
(It's been so long since I started this post that we actually did get a new table. Yay!)

We were at my brother's for a little while, then pretty suddenly our C man starting feeling sick and had a fever. Sadly, we left the festivities. C slept it off and was feeling okay within a few hours.

We missed out on doing fireworks, but did bring home some sparklers for L and P to enjoy.

4th of July

L does this thing where he puts his hands in front of his face when he's unsure about something or embarrassed. It's so cute!

4th of July

P wasn't too sure about things and stood back to watch.

4th of July

In August we went back and finished our 4th of July celebration, specifically fireworks! C loved it! We had to really watch him. He tried to light a firework all by himself at one point! L enjoyed it somewhat, but was not a fan of the noise and eventually went inside to watch a movie. And P enjoyed watching and even held a sparkler.

She already looks so different and is just as cute as ever! (More pictures of her coming soon.)
Before the fireworks, the boys enjoyed running off their crazy boy energy outside.

what I love

I love...

...that the boys are still at the ages where you can fill up a plastic pool and they have a blast with it.

...how C is helping Baby P in this photo. A lot of times he just knows what his baby brother wants and helps him out without me even having to ask.

It really is about the simple things, and I try to not overlook these precious moments that bring such joy and pass way too quickly. I admit, it's not always easy to remember how lovely we have it, amidst the constant needs of 3 young boys, laundry, dishes, chores, playing referee, more laundry, more dishes, meal preparation, playing referee again, more chores, never ending to do lists, and on and on. But that's one reason I love photos so much. They capture fun moments you can go back to and say, "Ah yes, life is good." It's good to be reminded in the off chance I might have forgotten to stop, breathe, and take in the joy.

kindergarten!

C's first few days of kindergarten have been great! He started Monday and has looked forward to going back.

He was very excited to start on Monday. His Nana called Sunday evening, and C was able to tell her (in great detail) what the plan for the next day would be. When Monday morning came around, I could tell he was a bit nervous, but that was totally to be expected.  I admit I was a bit nervous also.

Kinder!

C had a whole method to placing his backpack and lunch box in the car and has stuck with it since Monday. Too cute!

Kinder!

Off we go!

Kinder!

We got to school pretty early (yay!), and I had time to take some pictures before we went in. (Thank you mom for coming over to stay with L and P!)

C didn't mind at all since he got to watch the school buses. He was pretty excited about it. He said, "Mommy look! There's a school bus!" Then shortly after that, "Look, another school bus!" It dawned on me after I dropped him off that C finally got to see where the school buses actually go.

Kinder!

I just love these next two photos of C! I think they show his sweet personality.

Kinder!

I walked him into the school and to the cafeteria where the kindergartners waited to go to their classrooms. Again, I could see a bit of nervousness.

Kinder!

When it was time, I followed C's class to their room (along with a small entourage of parents) to say bye and get one last photo. I got my cue it was time to leave when the principal came over the speaker to welcome all the students to the first day of class and then said, kindly, "Okay parents, please start making your way out so the teachers can start their day."

Kinder!

When C got in the car after school the first day he said, "I like school!" Wow, that sure made this mommy's heart happy!

Our C man is doing so well adjusting to kindergarten! We are so very proud of him and happy for him!!!

don't touch my wedgits!

One sunny afternoon, Baby P was happily building with wedgits.

fun with wedgits

He loves building with these. In fact, it's one thing he will sit and do for a whole 10 minutes or so.

fun with wedgits

This masterpiece was created by Baby P, totally on his own. I know! I think he's advanced. :)

fun with wedgits

Then, to Baby P's horror, his older brothers came near his wedgits.

fun with wedgits

What in the world?! Um, I think Baby P thought his brothers were going to take away his precious wedgits. After some reassurance they were not there to steal wedgits or to destroy all of his hard work, he calmed down and continued creating.

fun with wedgits

Yep, he's advanced I tell ya!

how I became a pirate

Memorial Day weekend (almost 3 months ago-Yikes!) we took the boys to see 'How I Became a Pirate' at The Magik Theatre. It was based on the first book in a two book series - the second book being 'Pirates Don't Change Diapers.' Both of these stories are fun reads!

While we waited for the theatre to open, we hung out at a playground right outside and burned off some energy.

This is the best picture I got of Baby P that day. The boy is in constant motion!

always on the move

And what's a play without some popcorn?!

This was our second play to see at The Magik Theatre. Last year we saw 'If You Give a Mouse a Cookie,' which was cute. But I think this time was a bit more fun because all three boys sat and watched the entire play pretty attentively!
